Breathing techniques to calm you down
What should you do if you feel nervous prior to delivering a speech?
It is normal to feel a little bit nervous just before ‘that important speech’ or ‘this significant presentation’.
Try to relax by doing this breathing technique: breathe in and breathe out.
There is also a simple method mentioned on Daily Mail about exhaling for double the amount of time you inhale. For example if you breathe in and count for 3 seconds, then exhale slowly and count to 6 seconds.
According to Time, there are 6 different breathing techniques to relax, including abdominal breathing technique, and guided visualisation (breathe deeply while focusing on positive experience).
